We have left land!
Man, this is a very low-key boat to sail. Between the lack of healing and the very capable autopilot, it’s been a very hands-off experience so far.
The Canary Islands create a pretty extended wind shadow that seems to be shifting to a more southern angle over the next day or so. Spent the day trying to escape it for better wind (4-5 knots true vs 12-13 knots true, big difference). See the wind shadow at windy.com.
I’ve been fending off some seasickness today with the swell, but it recently shifted behind us rather than abeam of us. Otherwise everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, settling into life on the boat and with this crew.
Hoping tomorrow I’ll be feeling well enough to get my chef’s hat on.
Should be at Cabo Verde within the week.

P.S. the Spanish word for anchor is fondero
It all sounds wonderful; particularly since you’ve gotten past the seasickness.
What watches do you stand?
